Who’s The Boss?

It’s that time of the week. You drive up to work and you find the construction project for the new supermarket store next door has somehow managed to ‘add a little of their own’ construction creativity- by ripping the phone line, power line, siding and gutters that are attached to the very office space you ply your trade, day in and day out.

“Thank you Mr. PGE Man!”

Since the construction project next door was originally to begin in 2005, I cannot blame the guys for wanting to be in a hurry.  However, when you eventually are on a first name basis with the foreman of the project, the Feng Shui making for this Ju Ju Man can’t be good…

But I digress.  Let’s face it. The salt mine can truly be grueling. I think there is a need to change the mode of thinking in today’s workplace world. Here are Five Ways to Help Your Toxic Workplace using the BaZi Suan Ming.

Do You See the Light? BaZi in the Workplace

BaZi Blues Brothers

Well, Do You?

Have you ever gotten so frustrated that as you drive into work, your body tenses up more and more?  Damn. And you know it’s ‘the job.’  This can stem from office politics, the notion of ‘bullying’ in the workplace, or the many forms of workplace intimidation.  What typically emerges are deep-seated patterns that have been embedded in us before we ever started working at the said ‘hell hole.’  If you are lucky enough to be working and this kind of situation has an ongoing theme in your life, there are several tools I have learned from both ‘sides’ of the coin as a worker and as a so-called ‘boss.’  What this means for you is to utilize the BaZi Suan Ming for workplace navigation. This is how.

Don’t Slap the Crying Baby

Leave it to us Americans to screw up an entire indigenous healing system and try to make it relevant only in terms of finding parking spaces and keeping ourselves absolved of any accountability.  Who do we think we are?  Respect the tradition, keep the peace and find all the amazing, wise and thoughtful things within nature and ourselves.   Do not add insult to injury. Do not make things worse.  Don’t Slap the Crying Baby. We need to understand the underpinnings of ancient wisdom bestowed upon us to examine our past so we can prepare for our future.  This is how.

I Forgive but I don’t Forget

Have you ever had one of those days where everything seemed to come crashing down over your ears?  I certainly have had my share of these moments.  My fall back position used to always reason in the end that, “I will try harder. I will work harder.  I will pay more attention.” Finally, after years of neglect- I decided to  take the help and advice  from my grandmother, my parents, my uncles and aunts and my tribal elders.  In addition, I have actually chosen to listen to the very suggestions and advice I pass onto to my family, friends, patients, to the not-so-nice people and complete strangers alike.  Yet, on a day like today,  I still relate to Boxer, the Horse in the epic novel, Animal Farm.

Image is Everything- The Four Directions on Your Healing Journey

These days it seems like I am hearing the same record (or CD or nano ipod) play the same loop over and over.  Class warfare. Racial hatred. Gender discrimination. Howard Zinn’s book being banned once again in several states, (this time at the university level.)  Now, don’t get me wrong: It’s not that I think the villains are lurking around every corner.

The Unbearable Lightness of Pain

I decided to turn my life around in order to understand a deeper sense of human nature and our interaction with nature itself.  My training as a “real” medicine man, a Curandero, and as a traditional healer in my family’s lineage only provides a door way to explore this subject matter.
